Not...a...good...day

I got asked the dreaded question today..by my professor who I meet with twice a week....who is my advisor....."Are you pregnant?" BITCH thats what I think of that.

Who asks that? Especially a woman, especially a psychologist who should know that the average female college student has serious body image issues in this society. How is it that people who are so book smart can act so ignorant?

Honestly I am hurt, I thought that I was doing well that maybe my weight loss was even noticeable to the unknowing eye. Wrong. She totally ruined my day as much as I tried to fight it. I feel like crap. Bonus, I have class with her tomorrow morning.

I'm sad.

It IS a really stupid thing to ask someone in today's times. Just about everyone carries extra weight, especially around the middle. There is no way to possibly tell (until the LATE MONTHS) who is absolutely preggers and who isn't. You're right, she should have had better sense.

I'm so sorry you had to hear that, let alone deal with it. People can be so dumb sometimes!! Use what she said as motivation to kick some major ass ...!

Ouch! Now that just sucks. I know exactly how much that sucks. On the various occasions when I've been asked if I'm pregnant, I just look at the tactless person and say, "Nope, not pregnant- just fat. Thanks for pointing it out." *laughs*

Effin' lame. I've gone through that so many times, but now I just feel sorry for them for being so dumb and insenstive. You're a rad girl on an awesome journey. Consider the source of the comment (no one you love or are invested in) and move along!

"Consider the source of the comment (no one you love or are invested in) and move along!" Great advice.

Sorry she was such a social invalid that she even thought to ask that question! I would never assume someone was pregnant unless they told me.

Try not to let this get you down. You are doing an awesome job on this journey! Don't stop now.

Just surfed into your blog and wanted to say...

I can't even tell you how many times people have asked or assumed I was pregnant. Why can't people use common sense/courtesy on things like that? I mean, if you WERE pregnant, and wanted her to know, you'd have told her.

I got to the point when someone would just walk up and say, "when's your baby due?" I'd say, "five years ago." Usually that shut them up.

Sorry you had to deal with that...

Ugh, I hate when that happens, some people are just ignorant. I just don't get why some people feel the need to ask this question. And it hurts especially when you are losing weight.

Thanks to you all. It was really rough and I still cannot look her in the eye in class. I hope she realizes what she did and maybe I will be the only one she ever says it to, at least I might have saved someone else that pain.
