And I ran I ran so far away..wait no I didn't

How many times Have I posted about wanting to be a runner? 3, 4, or 502? Not sure really but I still do. I keep trying, honestly I do but it always falls through. It gets too hard and I give up. Maybe I need to try something a little more gradual than C25K, maybe just alternate walking and running increasing a minute at a time each week? Not sure but I do know that I really really want to run. I desire running, I guess it is time to try again.

Next week is spring break for me so I will have a little more free time although I do have to work and take my teaching certification exam. I am also trying to get up a little earlier in the mornings working my way up to a 6am wake up. So far I have hit the snooze everyday and that is at 7am so I have a long way to go!

I want to be a early riser so that I can get my workout/run in in the morning setting up my day for success because after all I wouldn't want to undo all the lovely work I did. Maybe I will start with a morning walk, well we will see. I hope you all are doing well and have a great weekend!

If you run, doesn't that make you a runner? I didn't think that there was a set mark, like you had to be able to run 10 miles straight, before being considered a runner. *grins* Do what feels good! I think that you've got the right idea about gradually increasing your runs by a couple minutes at a time, until you get to where you want to be. Just run as much as makes you happy. :o )

When I was struggling with running outdoors, someone gave me great advice - keep your pace slow. I felt ridiculous at first; like I could walk faster than I was "running", but it worked! I was able to run 3 miles without stopping and once you do it, you can never not do it again, ya know? Keep at it, you can do it!

I had a really hard time getting started running, the thing that worked for me was a heart rate monitor watch. It was kind of expensive (about $100), but totally worth it! I would alternate running and walking to keep me heart rate in the optimal zone, and eventually I was running more then walking, and one day I ran for 30 minutes without stopping! Keep at it, and you'll get there!!! :)
